Do you actually need a Guinea-Bissau eSIM?
Guinea-Bissau is outside the European Union, so roaming on an EU SIM is billed separately and usually costs several euros a day. This is where an eSIM pays off: you pay once, you know the price before you fly, and there is no surprise bill when you get home.

How much data do you need in Guinea-Bissau?
It depends on what you do with your phone, not on the country. Typical daily use:
| Use | Per day |
| Maps and messaging | ~200 MB |
| Social media and photos | ~500 MB |
| Video and streaming | 1.5 GB or more |
| Hotspot for a laptop | 2 GB or more |
Rule of thumb: 1 GB a day is enough for most people. If you will tether a laptop or watch video, pick an unlimited plan.
How to install your Guinea-Bissau eSIM
- Buy the plan and get your QR code by email, usually within minutes.
- Install it at home, on Wi-Fi. You need internet to install, and you may not have any when you land.
- Leave the eSIM off until you arrive. Turn data on when you land — that is when validity starts.
- Keep your usual SIM in the phone for calls and texts. The eSIM only handles data.
Guinea-Bissau eSIM: frequently asked questions
- When does validity start?
- When you turn data on at your destination, not when you buy. You can buy and install days in advance without losing anything.
- Can I use the hotspot?
- Yes, it is included in every plan. It counts towards your data like any other use.
- Do I lose my usual number?
- No. The eSIM is a second, data-only line. Your usual SIM stays in the phone and you keep receiving calls and texts.
- Is my phone compatible?
- iPhone XS and newer, Galaxy S20 and newer (except FE and China-only versions) and Pixel 3 and newer support eSIM. Your phone also has to be carrier-unlocked.
- Are unlimited plans really unlimited?
- Not unlimited at full speed, and we would rather say so. You get 1 GB a day at full speed on Standard and 2 GB on Plus; after that you stay connected at 512 kbps or 2 Mbps until the next day. Nothing is cut off and nothing extra is charged.
- What if it does not work when I land?
- Email [email protected]. We answer in Portuguese and English and we fix it while you are still travelling, not afterwards.
